With the aim of increasing fish resources and fish production, the Department of Fisheries released fingerlings into Ngwetha Dam and Sarlingyi Dam this morning.


First, an official from the District Department of Fisheries gave fish species to MP Dr. Thein Naing of regional Hluttaw and chairman U Tun Tun Naing of District Management Committee. 


Then the officials released fingerlings into the dams.


The department is annually releasing fingerlings into dams, lakes and rivers to promote fish resources. In addition, the department is also making to form community-based fishery groups, according to an official from the District Department of Fisheries.


A total 200,000 fishes were released into Ngwetha Dam and 100,000 fishes were inserted into Sarlingyi Dam.
