Mrauk-U, 10 December
A fire broke out in Chaungthit Village in Mrauk-U Township, Rakhine State at about 3:00 pm on 9 December, and totally destroyed two houses, causing a loss of K 75000.
The fire was thought to have started from the kitchen of Daw Ma Phwa Sein in the village.
Firefighters from the township Fire Service Department rushed to the scene to put out the fire in collaboration with locals using two fire engines, and the blaze was extinguished.
A total of 15 fire victims from two families are currently taking shelter at the homes of their relatives in the village. Action has been taken against the house owner over fire negligence by the local police station.
