A fire broke out at around 9:46 am yesterday in Podan Ward in the town of Sagaing, Sagaing Region and totally destroyed a house, according to the local fire brigade.

Firefighters from the Township Fire Services Department rushed to the incident scene to put out the fire in collaboration with staff from the Township GAD, local policemen, auxiliary firefighters and villagers using three fire engines. The fire was totally extinguished at around 10:03 am.

According to eye witnesses, a man of unsound mind, identified as U Than Ye Tun Oo set the fire and suffered burned injuries his hand and back of the body and sent to People’s  hospital for medical treatment. Fire destroyed a house, causing a loss of over Ks 1.8 million. 

The authorities pressed charged against U Than Ye Tun Oo for his negligence.—District IPRD
