A fire broke out on the first floor of Myanmar Thiri Linkarayama Monastery in Natchaung Ward, Tamwe Township, eastern district of Yangon region at 3:40 am today.

The fire was thought to have started from an overheated electric wire installed at the ceiling of the first floor. 104 fire fighters and 30 members of auxiliary fire brigade extinguished the fire with the use of 18 fire engines at 4 am.

Action is being taken against U Zaw Ye Aung from the monastery by Tamwe Myoma Police Station.
