Minbu, 3 April
A fire broke out in Khangon Village in Minbu Township, Magway Region at about 11:30 am on 2 April, according to the Township Fire Services Department.
The fire was believed to have started from U Wei Phyo Aung when he tried to set himself on fire due to an argument with his wife and spread to nearby houses and completely destroyed 32 houses, 11 cowsheds, one motorcycle and one tractor, inflicting the estimated loss of Ks. 68.6 million. But no casualties have been reported in the incident.
Firemen from the Township Fire Services Department, police members from the Township Police Station rushed to the incident scene to put out the fire in collaboration with auxiliary fire fighters and villagers using 12 fire engines. The blaze was successfully extinguished at about 12:15 pm.
A total of 148 fire victims from 34 families are currently taking refuge in the homes of their relatives and monastery, according to the Township Fire Services Department.—Maung Maung(Minbu)
