Fire destroys monastery in Namhsan Tsp.

A fire broke out at around 5:00 am today in Sankha Village, Namhsan Township, Sha State, destroying a monastery.

 


The fire supposed to have started from a candle that was lit in the prayer room of the monastery in the village. 

 


Firemen from the Township Fire Services Department led by staff officer U Myint Win Kyaing, of the Township FSD rushed to the scene to fight the fire with the use of two fire engines in cooperation with locals. It took the firefighters one hour and 10 minutes to put out the fire. 

 


No casualties were reported in the fire, but the monastery was totally destroyed. Properties worth about K 4.8 million were damaged in the fire.—Thura Aung, IPRD
