A fire prevention and mitigation drill took place at Myoma Market in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, at 10 a.m. today.

 

With the hot and dry season now upon us, the event was led by U Kyaw Soe Than, Chairman of the Township Administration Body, along with members of the Township Administration, U Nyi Nyi Lwin, Chairman of the District Administration Body, and other officials. They were joined by the Chief of the District Fire Services Department and their team, the Executive Officer of the Township Development Committee, staff, and auxiliary firefighters.

 

The group conducted an inspection of fire prevention and mitigation measures at the market, focusing on the availability and proper use of fire extinguishers in shops, as well as the readiness of water supplies for emergency situations.

 

Following the inspection, a fire prevention simulation exercise was carried out, featuring nine vehicles. This included five fire engines, two water tankers from the District Fire Services Department, one water tanker from the Auxiliary Fire Services Department, and one from the Township Development Committee.— Shwe Mohnyin
