A fire that broke out in Waryoe Village in Yenagyaung Township, Magway Region at about 1:00 am on 15 May, and destroyed 12 houses and killed two cows and a pig, according to the Magway Region Fire Services Department.

 

According to an investigation, the fire was thought to have started from an ember left in the house of Daw Kalama and consumed eight houses in the village, causing a loss of over K 1 million.

 

Firemen from the Township Fire Services Department rushed to the scene to fight the fire with the use of three water tankers in cooperation with locals and the blaze was successfully extinguished at around 1:30 am.

 

Authorities filed a case against Daw Kalama form her negligence.—Soe Thu Aung, IPRD
