A Fire broke out at around 8:00 pm yesterday in Myo Oo Ward-1 in the town of Hopong, the Pa'O Self-Administered Zone, Shan State (South).

The fire was thought to have started from an ember left in the house of U San Pe and spread to other houses.

Firemen from the Township Fire Services Department rushed to the scene to fight the fire with the use of two fire engines in cooperation with policemen and locals, and the blaze was successfully extinguished at around 8:30 pm.

The fire destroyed three houses, causing a loss of K 125000. But no casualties have been reported. Authorities filed a case against U San Pe for his negligence.

Afterwards, Chairman of the Leading Body of Pa’O Self-Administered Zone U Khun San Lwin, Brigadier General Thein Naing, Principal of Military Computer and Technological Institute in Hopong, the township Administrator U Nan Tint and the township Police Chief Moe Nyunt Oo looked round the incident.—Nay Min Tun (Hopong)
