First small industrial products and handicrafts expo to be held in Monywa

A small Industrial Products and Handicrafts Expo, the first in the region, will be held at the Monywa Town Hall from 29 to 31 May, said U Lin Phyo Aung, Assistant Engineer, Sagaing Region Small-scale Industries Department.

There will be about 80 showrooms at the expo, exhibiting guitars, jade, textiles manufactured by handlooms, shampoos, Thanakha, cosmetics, clothes, personal goods, and food items.

“Products manufactured by small industrial entrepreneurs from Sagaing Region will be showcased at the expo, which is being organized with the aim of developing the small industry sector,” he added.

“Local farmers who are cultivating only crops and Thanakha should not just be engaged in cultivation. They must also gain the technical know-how to produce goods with new designs so that they can penetrate a highly competitive market,” said U Kyaw Moe, the chairman of Myanmar Thanakha Cultivation, Production, Export and Sales Association.

“Ayadaw Thanakha will be showcased at the first small industrial products and handicrafts expo. The small industrial products expo will expose small local entrepreneurs to products manufactured by other entrepreneurs. We would also be able to share our good experiences at the expo,” he added.— Myo Win Tun (Monywa) (Translated by Hay Mar)
