A fish-carrying boat sank in Adman Sea near Salon Island in the township of Kawthoung in Myanmar’s northern Taninthayi region yesterday. The fish-carrying boat was named as “Htet Htet San” and steered by a helmsman named Phoe Htoo from Aung Tha village, Kawthoung Township, with 30 boxes of fishes and four fishermen onboard.
The accident took place in the afternoon when the boat was battered by strong winds near Salon Island. Shortly after the information received, Kawthoung waterway police conducted rescue operation and managed to save the lives of all fishermen including the helmsman.
The sunken boat was pulled to the town of Kawthoung by a tug boat.—Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
