Local residents started evacuating in the morning of August 3 after the river level of Bilin River rose and reached 1051cm, exceeding the critical water mark of 1022 cm in Bilin Township of Mon State due to continuous rainfall and the flow of mountain water.
Up to 1036 flood victims including 481 men and 555 women from 220 households have been evacuated from their homes to eight relief camps after some villages and five wards in the Township became inundated.
Chairman of the Township Administration Council U Sithu Aung and members, the Township Police Chief Police Major Min Tin, Commander of the Township Fire Services Department Tun Tun Lin, Ward Administrators, members of Social Organizations and locals rushed to the incident scene and provided necessary assistance to flood victims.
In addition, healthcare services are being provided to senior citizens in the camps by medical workers from the Township Department of Public Health.—Township IPRD
