Some families from low-lying areas in Mogaung Township, Kachin State who became relocated due to rising water level from the Mogaung Creek were returned to their homes on August 23 as the water level of the creek declined.
Five temporary rescue camps were set up to house flood victims from low-lying areas in Mogaung Township as the water levels of Nantyin and Nantkaung Creeks exceeded their danger marks and inundated some residential areas. The flood victims were moved to the temporary relief camps on August 23, according to a local fire brigade.
Firefighters, policemen, members of the Red Cross Society, volunteers and locals were involved in the evacuation of 534 flood victims from 108 households.
