THE coordination meeting 2/2024 of the Implementation Commit­tee on the Development of Bor­der Regions and National Races was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Border Affairs yesterday afternoon.

 

Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Implementation Committee on the Development of Border Regions and National Races, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries and officials from seven working subcommittees were present at the event, and state and regional government’s security and border affairs minis­ters, and chairpersons from the state and regional working sub­committees participated online.

 

The Union minister high­lighted the accelerated border development activities in line with the guidelines and policies set by the central committee, transport, education, health, ag­riculture, energy and electricity generation, human resource de­velopment, and development of small, micro, and medium-sized industries, improvement of inter­national cooperation, strenuous efforts of working subcommittees and regional working committees and project implementation de­pending on allocated budgets.

 

Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung also mentioned that in carrying out border develop­ment activities, it is necessary to focus on ethnic unity and eq­uitable development among all regions and states without gaps and today’s meeting would verify and approve the activities to be carried out with the allocated funds in the 2025-2026 financial year.

 

Afterwards, meeting partic­ipants explained the activities of the current financial year, the projects to be carried out with the 2025-2026 financial year ap­propriation of funds, the reasons for the increase in funding, and the strengths and weaknesses encountered in executing the ac­tivities in each relevant sector.
