MYANMAR MSME Cluster Footwear Manufacturers Federation (Central) held a work coordination meeting on 14 May in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region, regarding quality assurance in production and market promotion.

MSME clusters of footwear producers from regions and states participated in the meeting.

“Food producers can source 85 per cent of raw materials locally, including 60 per cent of rubber, metal, glue and fabric cloth. Only 15 per cent of materials are imported. MSME producers face difficulty with the physical location. The industry can create more opportunities for residents. The federation aims to penetrate international markets with quality footwear products,” said U Kan Nyunt, President of the federation.

The federation and representatives from regions and states in the footwear industry also discussed matters of grasping the domestic market amid the dominating ones from Thailand, ensuring quality assurance, market shares of foreign brands and local market conditions. — ASH/KK
