Fruits and vegetable with Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) and organic certification will be sold, according to U Soe Than Min Din, chairman of Myanmar Fruits, Flower and Vegetable Procedures and Exporters Association (MFVP).
The quality fruits, flower and vegetable will be sold at Myepadethagyun in Yangon starting from 23 March between 7 am and 12 am and it will open every weekend.
“On weekend, safe food from safe farm will be sold and the project was started every Saturday in 2015. Therefore, this year the event will take place every weekend”, he added.
A total of 34 stores will be opened with the permission of the Department of Agriculture as well fruit and vegetable with GAP and organic certification will be sold. In addition, recommended fruits and vegetable from 17 safe farms will be sold.
The event aims at ensuring the emergence of a new market for organic food for customers. The greengrocers must have any certification and those who fail to do so will be permanently halted from opening the stores.
There are 15 kinds of crops with GAP certification issued by the Department of Agriculture and seven organic certifications issued by the Myanmar Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association.
