DEPUTY Minister for Construc­tion U Win Pe inspected the road upgrade work on the Yan­gon-Pathein road, which is being carried out by Oriental Highway Company under the BOT sys­tem. During the inspection, he inspected upgrade of road section to a 12 miles long concrete road between mileposts 5/4 and 17/4 and the situation of toll collec­tion, instructing officials to sys­tematically monitor the traffic and collection of toll gates, and to collect a fine at the fixed rate for vehicles carrying more than the specified loads.

 

Afterwards, the Deputy Min­ister and party made a field in­spection to Bo Myat Tun Tollgate on the Yangon-Pathein Road and gave necessary orders.

 

At the meeting with Director U Yan Naing Zaw, who explained the situation of paving and lev­elling of 22 miles long section between mileposts74/5 and 96/5 with Premix in the next fiscal year, the Deputy Minister said it is necessary to distinguish be­tween the work to be done before the raining season and during the raining season, and he stressed three road task forces, Maubin and Pathein districts must be carried out under the planned projects in a balanced and sys­tematic manner.—MNA
