A ceremony to hoist a bejewelled diamond orb, a pennant-shaped vane and a golden umbrella atop the Gandakuti Chamber Shwek­yaungtaw of the Maha Muni Bud­dha Image, which was renovated due to damage caused by the Mandalay earthquake, took place with the consecration in Kyun­lone Oakshaung Ward, Chan­myathazi Township in Mandalay Region yesterday.

 

State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddham­ma Jotikadhaja Thanlyin Mink­yaung Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, State Ovad­acariya 16th Shwegyin Sangha­raja Chancellor of Sitagu Inter­national Buddhist Academies and Sitagu Hospitals Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Aggamaha Saddhammajotika Dr Bhaddanta Nyanissara and members of the Sangha attended the ceremony.

 

National Defence and Se­curity Council Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe paid homage to Maha Muni Buddha Image and offered an emerald bowl of alms, golden lotus robe, fruits, water and oil lights.

 

The Executive Chief and his wife and congregation took the Nine Precepts from Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw.

 

The Executive Chief and his wife offered the bejewelled diamond orb and offerings ded­icated to the Lord Buddha to Sitagu Sayadaw.

 

The Union ministers offered the pennant-shaped vane and other offerings to Thanlyin Mink­yaung Sayadaw.

 

The regional chief minister, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Command­er-in-Chief and deputy ministers also donated offerings to mem­bers of the Sangha.

 

Sitagu Sayadaw and Maso­eyein Taikthit Sayadaw delivered sermons, and the congregation shared merits gained.

 

The Executive Chief and his wife, and party, conveyed the be­jewelled diamond orb and the pennant-shaped vane to the ven­ue in front of the pavilion. They also sprinkled scented water on these items.

The Executive Chief and party inspected the construction site of a 1,000-foot-long reinforced concrete Dohtawadi bridge lo­cated between mileposts 358-one furlong and three furlongs on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway. The relevant officials reported on the construction processes, completed works, and the instal­lation of bored piles.
