YANGON  United  has  secured  a  spot  in  the  finals  of  the  Gen-eral Aung San Shield 2019 after defeating Sagaing United 3-1 in the 2nd leg of the General Aung San Shield 2019 at Yangon United Sports Complex yesterday.

 


Yangon  United  played  a  draw  match  against  Sagaing  United  1-1  in  the  first  leg,  and  the  aggregate  result  was  4-2  for  Yangon  United  to  step  into  the  Final  match  against  Shan  United.

 


As  the  match  is  crucial  to  go  to  the  final,  Yangon  United  played  its  stars,  Captain  cum  Keeper  Kyaw  Zin  Htet,  Maung  Maung Lwin, Miller, Kosuke and Anderson,  while  Sagaing  United lined up with its key players, keeper A Zin Hmue, Donal Bissa and Friday. Both teams gave all-out efforts from the start.

 


Yangon United took the lead goal at the 12 minute mark when they received a free kick. The foul ball was kicked by Yangon’s Soe Min Naing and the ball reached his  teammate,  striker  Maung  Maung Lwin, as he scored per-fectly  for  the  team’s  first  and  leading goal.

 


Sagaing  United  tried  to  equalise  the  goal,  but  the  first  half ended with Yangon United in the lead. The match became more heated in the second half, as  Sagaing  put  in  play  its  fast  attack. Sagaing United equalised the goal at the 72 minute mark, as the ball was headed by Thant Zin Win.

 


The second, and leading goal for Yangon United, was scored at 85 minutes while Maung Maung Lwin made a cross toward Sylla, who finished the score.

 


Then, by taking advantage of Sagaing’s defensive error, Sylla made the third goal for Yangon at 90 minutes. At the final whistle, Yangon  United  took  the  victo-ry  with  a  3-1  defeat  of  Sagaing  United. Yangon United will play the final match of General Aung San  Shield  2019  against  Shan  United on 21 September at Aung San Stadium in Yangon.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
