The English daily newspaper namely The Global New Light of Myanmar and SPUTNIK Information Agency, based in Russia, signed an agreement on Russia-Myanmar Informa­tion Cooperation to collaborate in information sharing and me­dia affairs.

 

U Maung Maung Ohn, the Union Minister for Informa­tion, and invited guests pre­sented the Signing Ceremony of the at Horizon Lake View hotel, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday.

 

On the occasion, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn delivered an opening speech at the ceremony, saying that Rus­sia-Myanmar diplomatic rela­tions initiated on 18 February 1948, and now it reached its 75th anniversary on 18 February 2023. He also highlighted the fact that Russia-Myanmar re­lations have been establishing strategic multilateral relations that benefits both countries based on mutual trust and ben­eficial cooperation.

 

The Union minister cau­tioned the period that the re­lations between Russia and Myanmar became more pow­erful in the 1990s and it was significantly added momentum in 2011. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing’s visit to Russia brought next steps to be pro­moted in bilateral trade and investment, he added.

 

Through cooperation with the international news agency, Myanmar journalists will have a chance to study news writing, editing and photography tech­niques. In addition, both sides can mutually exchange their views on the art of journalism, the Union minister remarked.

 

In conclusion, the Union minister wished for the sig­natories to be successful in the purposes of mutual under­standing between peoples of the two countries, news flow in a rapidly manner, dissemi­nation of news on culture, hu­manitarian, sports, business and political arenas and media development.

 

Mr Vasily Pushkov, the Di­rector of International Cooper­ation, SPUTNIK Information Agency extended greetings.

 

Managing Director of the News and Periodicals Enter­prise as well as BOD chairman of The Global New Light of My­anmar Co Ltd U Thet Swe and Mr Vasily Pushkov, the direc­tor of SPUTNIK Information Agency, signed the agreement on cooperation in exchange of information in the presence of the Union Minister.

 

Also present at the cere­mony were U Ye Tint, Deputy Minister for Information, U Myo Myint Maung, the perma­nent secretary of the ministry, Chief Editors and officials.

 

SPUTNIK Information Agency having its head-office in Moscow, Russia was estab­lished by Rossiya Segodnya (Russia Today), a State-owned news agency on 10 November 2014. SPUTNIK Information Agency which wins more than 66 million views per month on their website has bureau of­fices in Washington DC, Cairo, Beijing, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Montevideo and Rio de Janei­ro.

 

In the afternoon, the di­rector of SPUTNIK Informa­tion Agency and party visited Maravijaya Buddha Image in the Buddha Park, Gandakuti chambers, Saddhadhipati Bell, Aggadipati Sasana Beikman and stone plaque chamber pa­godas. — MNA/TH
