THE third day of the “Capacity-Building Workshop for Government Spokespersons on Effective Public Relations” continued yesterday at Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint attended the event, along with representatives from the Myanmar Press Council, trainers, delegates from ASEAN member states – Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos and Indonesia – as well as officials from the ASEAN Secretariat and observers from Japan.

In his closing remarks, the deputy minister expressed his gratitude and optimism, highlighting the ASEAN Workshop on Mastering Government Communication’s success in uniting voices from member states. He praised the workshop for enhancing public engagement through strategic communication and fostering transparency, accountability, and trust between governments and citizens.

The deputy minister thanked the participants for their active involvement and valuable contributions, encouraging them to apply the lessons they had learned to their respective ministries and sectors. He stressed the importance of continued collaboration, unity, and understanding within the ASEAN community. Finally, he extended his heartfelt thanks to the ASEAN Secretariat and organizers and wished everyone a safe journey home.

On the third day of the workshop, trainers also led discussions on the impact of media coverage, reviewing and assessing news disseminated to the public. Participants engaged in group discussions on these key topics.

Following the discussions, the closing ceremony took place, where the deputy minister presented course completion certificates to the participants. Director-General Dr Thida Tin of the Department of Media Development gave a summary of the three-day discussions.

The workshop served as a platform for improving communication strategies, crisis management approaches and the dissemination of clear and effective government information. It also contributed to ASEAN’s commitments to capacity-building and regional cooperation.
