Government will hold an annual Waso-robe offering ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw on 29 July.
A coordination meeting for organizing this ceremony was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture yesterday morning.
During the meeting, Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko, in his capacity as chairman of the work committee, said that the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has permitted the Waso-robe Offering Ceremony in accordance with the guidelines for control of the COVID-19.
The event will take place on 10th Waxing of Second Waso 1382 ME (29 July, Wednesday) at the Sasana Maha Beikman, Uppatasanti Pagoda in the capital city.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only senior monks have been invited to this year’s donation ceremony. A leading committee, the work committee and 10 sub-committees for the upcoming ceremony were formed on 9 July.
The Union Minister urged the sub-committees to exert efforts for the ceremony and to do a review of strengths and weaknesses of similar events in previous years. He also called on the sub-committees to adhere to the directives, guidelines and suggestions of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the Ministry of Health and Sports.
The Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture and the Permanent Secretary coordinated discussions of subcommittees, followed by additional advice of the Union Minister.
