A ground breaking ceremony for the construction of public toilets was held at the designated spot ,north of “Mon” congregation hall, west of Shwemawdaw pagoda in the town of Bago in Bago region at 6:40 am today.
The stakes were driven at the designated places by Bago Region Hluttaw Chairman U Khin Maung Yin, Bago Region Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and Development Minister Dr. Saw Nyo Win, the Region Social Affairs Minister Daw Nyunt Nyunt Htay, Bago Township Development Committee Chairman Dr. Aung Khin, Sun Shine Yangon Co., Ltd Managing Director Mr. Kim Tae Won and members of the Pagoda Trusty Board.
World Toilet Association (WTA) from Korea donated US$ 35000 for the construction of public toilets for the first time in Myanmar. The construction of the three-storey building measuring 60 feet in length and 30 feet in wide will be carried out by Sun Shine Yangon Co., Ltd.
Offices, libraries and health care centers will be opened in the top floor of the building, according to U Win Maung, a member of the Pagoda’s Trusty Board.
