62 houses have been collapsed and 584 buildings including one healthcare center, one school and nine monasteries flipped over by the strong winds swept through some villages in Gyobingauk Township, Bago Region on 20 May.

The estimated loss of property due to the gusty winds amounted to more than Ks. 56 million and a total of 2,199 people from 635 households have been affected by the natural disaster, according to a source from the General Administration Department. Gyobingauk Township experienced a number of strong winds, destroying over 1,000 houses during the period from March to May.

The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has been supplying relief items such as cash and kind, medicine and construction materials to the storm victims in cooperation with the Myanmar Red Cross Society.
