A massive haul of drugs worth Ks. 19,050 million were seized in a car search in Mongpyin Township, Eastern Shan State on 25 August.
A combined security team intercepted a car driven by a man named Lee Har, on the Taunggyi-Kengtung-Tachilek Road at a checkpoint near the Thalwin River crossing bridge in Mongpyin Township yesterday morning. They discovered methamphetamine (ICE) weighing 762 kilograms which are concealed in 38 backpacks in the car. An estimated value of the confiscated drugs is about Ks. 19.05 billion.
The motorist has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the local police station.—Aung Zin Myint (IPRD)
