The Ministry of Health and Sports signed an MoU with the two Singapore-based foundation for training programmes on better healthcare services and patient safety in Myanmar.
The Singapore International Foundation (SignHealth) and the Temasek Foundation International signed agreements with the ministry to launch of Quality and Patient Safety Management programme. The ceremony was held at the Park Royal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe officiated at the ceremony and delivered an opening remark with emphasis on the importance of this programme to care for the patients not to infected with the bacteria at the hospitals, for the immediate recovery from the diseases and for other safety measures for them.
The Union Minister suggested to put the patient safety measures into the courses of graduates and post-graduates and the needs for quality research in healthcare sector.
The ministry will soon get the assistance of three experts from the World Health Organization for quality survey through medical audits.
According to the MoU, the Health Ministry will get the rules and guidelines for patient safety measures which are being used in Singapore.
Singaporean Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Vanessa Chan made a speech. Chief Executive of Temasek Foundation International Mr Benedict Cheong and Deputy Group CEO of Singapore International Foundation presented their greeting words and explained about the working plans in the MoU.
In the presence of Union Minister and Singaporean Ambassador, Director- General (Department of Public Health and Medical Services) Dr Soe Oo and Professor Fond Kok Yong signed the MoU.
In accordance with MoU, the Ministry of Health and Sports, together with the SignHealth and the Temasek Foundation, will provide the three-year training programmes until 2022 to over 700 health workers from more than 40 hospitals in the country on better healthcare services, patient safety and the capacity-building for the leadership and management role in preventive measures against infections.—MNA
