DAWBON Township organized a healthy mother and baby show yesterday morning at the township’s maternity clinic to mark the upcoming 78th Independence Day which falls on 4 January 2026.
The event was organized by the Dawbon Township Maternal and Child Welfare Association, with township officials overseeing the arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the competition. Officials from the association, including the chair and responsible personnel, first measured the babies’ weight and checked their personal hygiene. Healthcare staff from the Township Public Health Department then evaluated and scored the babies in accordance with official competition rules, ensuring a fair assessment for all participants.
In the show, babies aged six months to one year were awarded first, second and third prizes by the head of the Township Public Health Department, Dr Myo Myo Khine. Babies aged one year to one year and six months received first, second and third prizes from the chair of the township Materal and Child Welfare Association, Daw May Zin Phyo. Babies aged one year and six months to two years were presented with first, second and third prizes by the chair of the Botahtaung District Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committee, Daw Khin Win Kyi.
Following the awards ceremony, all participating children were given toys as gifts, and five new mothers received packages containing bananas, eggs, cereal, salt and nutritional supplements to support child nutrition and family well-being. — Chit Su Wai (IPRD)/KZL
