VICE-CHAIR of the Committee on the Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community and Union Minister for Infor­mation U Maung Maung Ohn, together with Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win, visited Hinthada Township yes­terday morning to observe on­going community development activities aimed at building a stable and resilient society.

 

At U Po Kyar Library in Neikban Village-tract, they met students reading and studying. They encouraged the students and held discussions with mem­bers of the library supervisory committee.

 

During the meeting, the Un­ion minister stated that, under the guidance of the Head of State, efforts are being made to devel­op libraries across Myanmar. He highlighted the importance of instilling good reading habits among the youth through librar­ies named in honour of prominent figures U Po Kyar and U Thant in Ayeyawady Region, with the goal of nurturing responsible and capable future citizens.

 

The Region Chief Minister explained that over 340 libraries have been established across Ayeyawady Region and shared updates on ongoing support to promote library development. Dr Tin Tun Oo, Chair of the Myan­mar Press Council, expressed gratitude for these efforts.

 

The Union minister also pre­sented K 1 million and a collec­tion of glass palace chronicles, educational, scientific, and liter­ary books donated by State Ad­ministration Council Chairman, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and family. An additional K 1 million was contributed by the Region Chief Minister. The Director-General of Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) also donated three sets of MRTV DTH satellite receivers. The donations were accepted by U Hla Myaing, Secretary of the Library Committee, and Daw Nwe Nwe Mu, the librarian.

 

Following this, the Union Minister and Chief Minister at­tended a ceremony in Kayinsu village to distribute quality rice seeds and drum seeders to farm­ers. They also provided an MRTV DTH satellite receiver to each vil­lage and observed the application of kenaf to enhance soil quality for the monsoon paddy season.

 

While in Hinthada Township, they oversee agricultural tasks and healthcare services for the people.

 

They also attended a flood prevention demonstration in Phaungseik village, organized by the Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization Manage­ment, and a water rescue drill organized by the Fire Services Department. During the event, they distributed early warn­ing flags as part of emergency preparedness, along with 200 DVB-T2 Set Top boxes and MRTV DTH satellite receivers and over­viewed disaster risk reduction efforts. — MNA/KNN
