Hong Kong's government has denounced the actions of protestors as "unacceptable," following clashes with police.
Some protesters turned violent on Saturday and Sunday, clashing with police in the ongoing unrest sparked by a controversial extradition bill.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Matthew Cheung, the territory's second most senior government official, lashed out at protesters, saying their actions are escalating.
He said such actions will destroy the stability of society.
He stressed the importance of holding dialogue instead of confrontation.
Police revealed on Monday that in the past two days, they arrested 86 people, ranging in age from 12 to 52.
Police defended the actions of one officer who fired a gunshot into the air during protests on Sunday, saying the use of force was necessary and reasonable.
