A fire broke out near the traffic point between U Myant Lay Street and Aung San Street in Myothit-2 Ward in Myeik Township of Tanintharyi Region at about 7:15 am on December 4, and four houses were burnt to ashes.

Firemen led by U San Oo, commander of the Township Fire Services Department rushed to the scene to fight fire in collaboration with auxiliary firefighters, police members and locals with the use of 11 water tankers, 10 fire engines and ten ambulances, and the blaze was brought under control at about 7:55 am and completely extinguished at about 8:05 am.

The house fire was believed to have started from a short circuit in the phone shop of U Htet Lin Kyaw. The estimated damage to property destroyed by fire was K 7.1 million.—Myint Oo(Myeik)
