Academic Year 2019-2020 Kayin State nationwide school enrolment day event was held at Hpa-an No. 1 Basic Education High School in Kayin State yesterday morning.
The event kicked off with students from No. 5 Basic Education High School singing a song title “Myanmar’s school.”
Next, Union Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi spoke of implementing free education of basic education level, providing opportunity for all school going age children to enrol in schools and to increase the school enrolment rate.
Academic Year 2019-2020 will be conducted with the theme “Parents and people support together for all school going age children to obtain quality education without discrimination.” It is important for five years old children to enrol in KG and six years old children to enroll in Grade-1. Schools were also instructed not to collect or accept money and gifts while no sales of anything including uniforms, class and school badges said the Union Ministers. Great emphasis was placed toward teaching reading, writing and basic mathematics to students attending Grade-1 to 3, prevent usage of drug, beer, cigarettes, understanding and abiding by traffic and road rules, acquire health and reproductive knowledge. Students’ addictions to games were becoming a challenge and efforts were made toward reducing this. State/region, district and township education offices must provide support for the teachers to teach well as only happy and contented teachers can teach the students well said the Union Minister.
Next, Kayin State Hluttaw Speaker U Saw Chit Khin, Basic Education Department Director General U Ko Lay Win and Daw Myint Myint Win of Kayin State Director Office delivered speeches.
Afterwards Union Minister and officials presented stationaries and teaching aids donated by donors to the students and also presented certificate of honors to the donors. Later the Union Minister and officials went to Hpa-An No. 3 Basic Education High School 3 and No. 2 Basic Education Sub High School and inspected the school enrolment works conducted.
