A Tatmadaw column conducting proper security operation at the area where a police vehicle was attacked with landmines and small arms by the ARSA in Maungtaw Township on 22 April found an improvised explosive device (IED) and bullet casings near the site of the ambush.

The IED and 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm bullet casings were found on a hilltop, about 50 meters from the attack site. The security forces also found a 3-foot-long iron pipe filled with steel balls and gunpowder attached to about 50 yards of wire, along with three old car batteries.

On another hill, about 100 meters northeast of the attack site, some rice packets, empty drinking water bottles, a sweater, an iron pick, and bullet casings were found.

A case has been registered against the ARSA at the Kyeinchuang Police Station, according to a statement released by the Myanmar Police Force.—MNA
