Tachilek, 10 April
Two illegal migrant workers, who were without proper documents, were handed over by Thai authorities to their Myanmar counterparts at No 2 Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge in Tachilek, Shan State yesterday.
The returnees were accepted by Myanmar departmental officials and local authorities of relevant departments.
They were sent to their places of origin after being provided with health care with the help from the Township General Administration Department, Labor, Immigration and Population Department, Anti-Human Trafficking Squad of Myanmar Police Force, Department of Labor and Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens in Mae Sai, Thailand (CNCMC).
Altogether 564 illegal Myanmar migrants workers—360 male, 184 female and 20 children—were handed over by Thailand to Myanmar between January 1 and April 9 this year.—Sai Aung Zaw Lin
