Authorities seized an illegal sawmill and teak logs in Butasu Ward, Naba Village, Indaw Township in Sagaing Region yesterday.

Acting on information, a combined team comprising policemen led by Police Inspector Myo Thet Naing from Naba Police Outpost and staff from the Township Forest Department together with witnesses searched in the compound of Daw Nan Nyunt Khin’s house in Butasu Ward in Naba Village and seized 10 illegal teak logs, 12 teak lumbers, a sawmill together with five people in connection with the illegal business. They were identified as Phe Sein, Aung Htay Win, San Win, Shine Aung and Kyaw Kyaw.

The investigation revealed that the owner of the seized teak logs and timbers was Daw Nan Nyunt Khin, of Naba Village, Indaw Township.

Action is being taken against the six in accordance with the Forest Law.—Lu Aung(Katha
