Next, an on-duty team under the management of Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Task Eradication Task Force served at Kanalu combined checkpoint in Sagaing on 21 April and they found 4.34 tonnes of illegal teak estimated value at K6.5 million and the action was taken under the Forest Law. And then, a team from Monywa Myoma Police Station carried out searching near the Tamatan traffic lights in Monywa on 22 April. They seized a Toyota Alphard without licence estimated value at K5.5 million. And, a team from Kalay Myoma Police Station nabbed New Royal 125 motorcycle without licence estimated value K200,000 at Kalay totalling estimated value over K12 million and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.

 

Finally, combined teams led by Bago Region Forest Department seized 46.28 tonnes of illegal timber estimated over K1.4 million in Thayawady District on 21 April and 5.487 tonnes of illegal timbers estimated value over K2.3 million in Toungoo District on 22 April, totalling estimated value over K3.8 million and the action was taken under the Forest Law.

 

Therefore, 13 arrests at an estimated value of K242,694,112 were made from 19 to 22 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.—MNA/KZW
