Forest Department under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various methods, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), to detect and seize illegal timber and forest products in collaboration with public.
According to reports sent by the Nay Pyi Taw, State and Region Forest Departments from December 16 to 22, a total of 60.04 tons of timber including 36.68 tons illegal teak, 2.53 tons of hardwood and 20.81 tons of other types of timber, 10 vehicles/machines, and 11 people in connection with the case were seized in the country.—MNA
