Under the supervision of Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, special combined teams for combating illegal trade and One Stop Service led by the Customs Department have been formed in the regions and states as well as the Nay Pyi Taw Council area. Now, illegal trade is being effectively combatted at the border entry/exit gates, border trade offices and camps, permanent checkpoints, along the trade routes, warehouses, international ports and airports and coastal ports, and information availability is very important.
Due to the reports of responsible citizens, 54 cases of information including 17 cases of false news, one case of late news and 36 cases of arrests were received in December 2024. In addition, 65 cases of arrests have been opened as a result of the reports, and 45 types of goods including various types of timber, industrial equipment, consumer goods and food products with an estimated value of K. 1,020.39 million as well as vehicles including powered schooners, unregistered cars and motorcycles.
Responsible citizens, who gave information to relevant departments in December 2024, will be awarded with K. 204.07 million, which is 20 percent of K. 1,020.39 million of the seizures, and relevant departments are working to award the rewards to the citizens who gave the information as soon as possible.
