Implementation of bamboo-based industry discussed in Bago

A meeting between Bago region government, MPs of the region hluttaw and members of Myanmar Rattan and Bamboo Entrepreneurs Association took place at Tawwin Hantha hall of Bago region government office yesterday afternoon.

Plans to nurture bamboo plantations in Zaungtu area in Bago region and to produce value-added bamboo products were discussed at the meeting.

 In the meeting, Bago region chief minister U Win Thein said that Bago region is endowed with Bago mountain range, expressing his warm welcome to the news that Myanmar Rattan and Bamboo Entrepreneurs Association was planning to nurture bamboo plantations and to produce value-added bamboo products in collaboration with local people. He also highlighted the need to conduct educative programs to imbue local people with the spirit of loving forests and plants and take measures to restore natural ecosystem. 

Then, U Kyaw Thu, chairman of Myanmar Rattan and Bamboo Entrepreneurs Association explained plans to set up bamboo-based industry in collaboration with local people in Zaungtu area. Afterwards, Mr. Sebastien Moineau clarified the aim of setting up bamboo-based industry and its benefits, followed by presentation about plans on growing of bamboos and production of value-added products from bamboo. Mr. Matt Okane detailed work programs to be carried out by each farmer in the projects and profits for them.—Hein Htet(Bago)
