THERE is potential for do­mestic food security by raising more beef cattle, according to cattle breeders in Myaungda­ga.

“Now, in Kawhmu, the breeding zones are being set up in Twantay. There are more cat­tle breeding zones in Myaung­daga. Compared to other live­stock farming, cattle breeding is given more priority. Further­more, there is potential for do­mestic food security by raising beef cattle. If the State can cre­ate a market, and if there is an opportunity to export, there is potential for livestock farming to increase significantly,” said Ko Sai La Shee, a cattle breeder in Myaungdaga.

The number of cattle breeding farmers is increasing, and if there are more breeders, they can contribute to domestic food security.

“The number of people who raise cattle on farms is increas­ing in some places. There are small cattle breeding zones. We have applied for additional cattle breeding zones. They are allowed only for actual breed­ers. Only then they can contrib­ute to the local food supply,” he said. — Thit Taw/ZN
