THERE is potential for domestic food security by raising more beef cattle, according to cattle breeders in Myaungdaga.
“Now, in Kawhmu, the breeding zones are being set up in Twantay. There are more cattle breeding zones in Myaungdaga. Compared to other livestock farming, cattle breeding is given more priority. Furthermore, there is potential for domestic food security by raising beef cattle. If the State can create a market, and if there is an opportunity to export, there is potential for livestock farming to increase significantly,” said Ko Sai La Shee, a cattle breeder in Myaungdaga.
The number of cattle breeding farmers is increasing, and if there are more breeders, they can contribute to domestic food security.
“The number of people who raise cattle on farms is increasing in some places. There are small cattle breeding zones. We have applied for additional cattle breeding zones. They are allowed only for actual breeders. Only then they can contribute to the local food supply,” he said. — Thit Taw/ZN
