THE signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Under­standing (MoU) regarding the “Construction of a Pre­school in Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw” was held at 6 pm yesterday in the meet­ing hall of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

The project was pro­posed by the Department of Social Welfare, under the Ministry, as part of the Small Development Pro­jects (SDP) agreement be­tween the governments of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of India.

 

The ceremony was at­tended by Deputy Minister for Investment and For­eign Economic Relations U Thant Sin Lwin, Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Than Soe, Minister of Ex­ternal Affairs of State of the Republic of India Mr Kirti Vardhan Singh, Head of the Embassy of the Republic of India to Myanmar Mr Ab­hay Thakur, Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Re­public of India to Myanmar Mr Ashish Sharma, as well as permanent secretaries, directors-general, deputy directors-general, officials from relevant ministries, and representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of India to Myanmar.

 

At the ceremony, Dr Than Soe and Mr Kirti Vardhan Singh delivered opening remarks on the project. Following the speeches, the MoU for the construction of a preschool in Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw, was signed by Direc­tor-General Dr San San Aye of the Department of Social Welfare and Mr Ash­ish Sharma.

 

The signing of this MoU will support the cre­ation of safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments for early childhood development. The establishment of this preschool, which will nur­ture children’s physical, intellectual, mental, and social growth, is expected to benefit human resource development and regional progress. Furthermore, it will contribute to strength­ening cooperation and friendship between Myan­mar and India. — MNA/TH
