Indonesia's Constitutional Court has dismissed allegations of fraud in the country's April presidential election, upholding Joko Widodo's election to a second term in office.
Joko defeated retired military general Prabowo Subianto by about 10 percentage points.Prabowo filed an appeal with the court, claiming systemic fraud, including the manipulation of vote counting by the election commission.
The court on Thursday said the evidence presented by Prabowo failed to prove the allegations.
The verdict of the Constitutional Court is final, and no appeal can be lodged. Prabowo says he respects the court's decision.
His supporters gathered around the court on Thursday to stage a peaceful protest.Last month, nine people were killed in clashes in Jakarta between police and citizens protesting the election result.
