The Inlay region will host the traditional regatta festival as a tourist attraction to promote tourism, according to the General Administration Department (GAD) of Nyaungshwe Township, Shan State (South).
The Inlay traditional regatta festival will take place over two days, from 8 to 9 February, at Namkat Creek in the Inlay region.
A total of 12 teams will compete, with four teams each in men’s, women’s, and students’ rowing events.
The race aims to promote tourism in the Inlay region, explore new tourist attractions, and preserve traditional foot-paddling practices.
In the past, the Inlay Lake traditional regatta festival was held alongside the PhaungdawU Pagoda Festival. However, this year, due to flooding caused by Typhoon Yagi, the two festivals will not be held together. — ASH/MKKS
