Installation of solar panels in Bonchaung village, Wuntho Township, Kawlin District, Sagaing Region was inspected by officials from Department of Rural Development on January 6.


With the aim to achieve 100 percent electrification by 2030, electrification projects are being undertaken across the nation. In addition, the government has been making efforts to distribute electricity to villages which are more than 10 miles far away from national grid by way of solar home system. 


In the village, the installation of 25 pairs of 100 W solar panels and 12 pairs of 60 W solar panels were conducted and the local residents contributed K 150,000 for 100 W solar panels and K 50,000 for 60 W solar panels.


The installation of solar panels in school, religious buildings and rural health clinic was also implemented with funds of the project and lamp posts were also set up in the village free of charge, according to a Township Officer U Myat Myo Tun from the Township Department of Rural Development.
