Opening ceremony of Mon State Chief Minister’s Cup U-25 Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament was held at the state stadium in the Town of Mawlamyine, Mon State on 8 May.

At the event, Mon State Chief Minister U Zaw Lin Tun delivered an opening speech and clarified the purposes of the tournament and gave words of encouragement and words of thanks to the teams for participating in the tournament. 

“The tourney aims to raise the standard of Myanmar volleyball and the standard of health and fitness of the whole nation plus promoting the sports and emerge of a new generation of athletes,” said U Zaw Lin Tun.

Men’s volleyball team representing Thanphyuzayat Township and Men’s volleyball team representing Ye Township competed in the first match.

The contest runs from May 9 to 13 with 10 participating teams and the final match will be held in conjunction with a prize awarding ceremony.—Khin San Myint(District IPRD)
