Israelis will go to the polls on Tuesday to vote in the country's general election.
The election was supposed to be held later, when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government served out its full term in November. But last December, an early election was called, largely due to discord among the parties in the coalition government.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party is competing against Benny Gantz's Blue and White party for a chance to become the largest force in parliament.
Netanyahu is touting the US's decision to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights as one of his diplomatic achievements.
He is also arguing that the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem came about because of his efforts.
On the other hand, Gantz is trying to win over voters by highlighting the corruption allegations against Netanyahu.
Gantz is also showing a willingness to resume peace talks with the Palestinians. Talks between Prime Minister Netanyahu's administration and the Palestinians remain stalled.
Vote-counting will be conducted on the same day. The election's outcome will likely affect the country's relations with the Palestinians as well as other issues in the region.
