CHAIRMAN of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior Gen­eral Min Aung Hlaing received the peace delegation led by Vice-Chairman Nai Aung Min of New Mon State Party (NMSP) at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon to talk about peace issues.

 

Also present at the talk to­gether with the Senior General were Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe My­int Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. The Vice-Chairman of New Mon State Party (NMSP) was accompanied by Central Exec­utive Committee member Nai Banyar Lei and Central Commit­tee member Nai Am Saik Cham.

 

At the talk, the Senior Gen­eral explained the designation of the year 2022 as the year of peace, invitation to the peace talks for seeking resolution over different opinions based on politics without any restric­tions, plans to continue the res­toration of peace based on the Constitution (2008) and the Na­tionwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), exercising the genuine, discipline-flourished multiparty democratic system, efforts be­ing made for building the Union based on democracy and feder­alism as the political aspiration, open and frank discussions on demands of the ethnic armed organizations and appropriate measures for the region and the State in the peace talks, and needs for deeply holding discussions with a wide range of scope for the sake of the Union.

 

The Vice-Chairman and party of New Mon State Party (NMSP) expressed thanks for talking about peace issue for the second time without any restrictions, adding that New Mon State Party (NMSP) on its part is steadfastly participating in the track of peace with the as­piration to restore peace across the nation. They showed off their attitudes and stances on the sit­uations that the different opin­ions based on politics should be solved under the political trend.

 

In his responses to the dis­cussions, the Senior General said the Hluttaw is the politically highest in the democratic sys­tem, and more ethnics should participate in the Hluttaw, the political platform to demand the rights of their regions under the law. If the political parties are analyzed, they can be seen as the parties representing politics, regions and ethnicities. They should not emphasize their sin­gle party but focus on the inter­ests of the Union through the Union spirit. Both sides cordially exchanged views on peace is­sues and regional development.

 

After the talks, the Senior General presented gifts to the Vice-Chairman of New Mon State Party (NMSP) and party and posed for documentary pho­tos together with the attendees.

The delegation led by the Vice-Chairman of New Mon State Party (NMSP) will hold peace talks with the Peace Talks Team and the National Solidari­ty and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee formed with council members by the State Adminis­tration Council. — MNA
