Myanmar Skills Competition 2020 was opened at the Tatmadaw Convention Centre in Yangon yesterday morning to select a team representing Myanmar at the ASEAN competition.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe said the Myanmar Skills Competition 2020 will be the touchstone of the efficiency of the youth labour, a notable force of the socio-economic relations of Myanmar. Moreover, the competition will be a gathering point of professionals and the strength for all organizations involving in developing competency of the economic and career development policy makers, personnel of the vocational education sector, micro, small and medium entrepreneurs and organizations improving the industrial skills.
The world is now at the stage of using the industrial 4.0 through continuous evolution and rapid progress of multiple fields based on advanced technology including economic, social, industrial, education, health, transport and trade sectors. Alongside the new movement, the world sees some of the sectors adopting education 4.0, HR 4.0, economic 4.0, marketing 4.0, and banking 4.0 that are based on the industrial 4.0. Meanwhile, the ASEAN is implementing the ASEAN Empowering 4.0 which is based on future technology, market trends, employment opportunities, human resources development and micro, small and medium enterprises. So, it’s about time Myanmar is in the quest for realizing the Myanmar 4.0 through discovering new assets by promoting the qualifications of the labour force. Here the adoption of the up-to-date versions of professional competencies and curriculums has become an urgent matter, said the Union Minister.

The Union Minister and officials formally opened the Myanmar Skills Competition 2020 and looked around the displays and watched competitions at the venue.
The Myanmar National Skills Standards Authority (NSSA) served as the main sponsor and automobile entrepreneurs led by Myanmar Motor Corporation Public Co., Ltd, Pyae Soan Win Naing Distribution Co., Ltd (PSWN) and Zaya & Associate Group Co., Ltd and their partners, Luxembourger Development Cooperation Agency (LuxDev), Swisscontact and German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) acted as contributors for the success of competition.
Of the youth contestants of the automobile technology, refrigeration and air-condition, electrical installation, restaurant service and cooking competitions, the outstanding ones will be sent to a special training camp to represent Myanmar at the 13th ASEAN Skills Competition 2020 that will be held in the coming July.—MNA (Translated by TMT)
