Japanese-funded school facility inaugurated in Kalewa

A ceremony to open a new school facility which was built with US$ 89,875 donated by Japan was held at No.2, post primary school in Kalewa Township, Sagaing Region on Wednesday.

The structure was formally launched by the First Secretary from Japanese Embassy, Amyotha Hluttaw Representative U Ko Ko Naing, Chairman of the district management committee U Khin Maung Cho, District Education Officer Daw Khin Shwe and the chairman of township management committee U Zaw Lin by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. Next, they viewed round inside the new school. Afterwards, speeches by the Upper House MP and the chairman of the district management committee followed.

The Japanese official then explained the purpose of constructing the facility and handed over documents relating to the school to the township education officer. The district education officer also spoke words of thanks. The two-storey school is of reinforced concrete type and is 70 ft. in length and 30 ft. in width. It was built by Japan under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme.—Thet Han (Kalewa)
