Japanese minister notes need to monitor Brexit

13 Dec

Japanese Economic Revitalization Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura has noted the importance of ties with Britain and the need to pay attention to the course of Brexit.

At a news conference on Friday, Nishimura referred to UK poll projections that the ruling Conservative Party was set to win a majority.

He said about 1,000 Japanese companies are operating in Britain and that Japan has been asking the country to avoid a no-deal Brexit.

Nishimura added that Japan will continue to monitor the results of the election, as well as developments toward Britain's departure from the European Union.
