A delegation led by Japanese Princess Yoko Mikasa yesterday visited Shwedagon Pagoda, and offered flowers, water and lights.

At the pagoda, the Japanese Princess presented a painting of the pagoda and the books about the history of the pagoda, donated cash and received the certificate of honour in return by the Members of Board of Trustees of the pagoda. She also signed the guest book of the pagoda.

Member of Board of Trustees of the pagoda U Than Zaw detailed about the diamond bud, umbrella crown and vane of the pagoda with photographs to the Princess. Afterwards, the princess walked around the Shwedagon Pagoda clock-wise.

The Princess and entourage also visited the Chauk Htak Gyi Pagoda, signed the guest book of the pagoda and paid homage to the Buddha.

In the afternoon, the Princess and entourage visited the National Museum (Yangon) on Pyay Road where they were explained the national museum by Director of Archaeological Research and National Museum Department Nang Lao Ngin and officials.

The Princess and party also visited Kyaik-de-att Botataung Pagoda housing the Buddha’s hair-relic of the Buddha.—MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
